here we are on a lazy sunday afternoon, people float by, traffic passes, families off to the beach, people reading the sunday papers, i've already been out on several missions
last night I was outta whack with everything, i mean this is how outta whack i was.
i'm home waiting to watch the new dr.who, i have 30mins, so i think, zip out, get a pizza cos i love pizza and the cupboards are bare, there's no heat in mission control, and i hadn't eaten since the early morning, so i get down the town and on the way buy some thai, then at the thai they are offerring me a new green drink, i am always intrested in these kinda things, cos they have weird tastes and no one else bothers to try them, so i am chatting away to them about basil seed drink when these two girls ask if i want to join them for dinner, i am thinking i'd love to but i have just got my take away, plus dr.who is on tv (yeah some form of strange freakin madness) anyway on the way to the car i pass the pizza shop and think, 'mmm, pizza' so i nip in and order a pizza, thinking it's going to take 10 mins, well 30 mins later i get my pizza, and i get home, i loose my sock in the process (i have no idea how this happens) then i sit down in front of the tv and settle in for some time lord action only to find she gave me the wrong pizza, it's got meat in it. so i watch the dr. then go to sleep, cold hungry and kinda wondering what's going on. anyway in the morning i get in my car to get supplies and i find the thia food there.
yeah so i am in Babylon to tell the book shop people about my 'Cloud' book, which i think you should all go out and buy, it's brilliant. The Cloudspotters Guide by Gavin Pinney. My copy has two blank pages right in the middle and obviously theres been an error. So i'm telling them all about it and go for the exchange but we notice that all the copies have this anomoly, so i just stick with the one i have. then they very kindly open up the cafe at the back for me so i can at least grab a coffee. later i wander through babylon wondering where all the intresting people went. here was a town that was like its name, avalon, beautiful, community of wonderful people, in two years after developers discovered it it's filled with horrible boring yuppies.
babylon.

Wow, parallel worlds. Which Doctor Who have you got - I'm totally addicted, my Saturdays night revolve(d) round it. Just watched the last in a series over here in ingerland, cried my eyes out. If that's the same series I could be really nasty and tell you what happens, but hey, I'm a nice person.

I couldn't think of anything poignant to ask SK so congrats on getting your answer, more books to add to my list of must-remembers. That was how I got to this blog, following links, have been a Church follower since living in the wonderful Northern Beaches. Newport Arms? Nuttin' bout Newport area could haunt me, save for wondering if I'll ever revisit one day. David Bowie would phase me, the voice more than the physicality. Oh yeh, covering several entries in one go, can remember The The, checked out their website, had forgotten how political they were. Billy Bragg usually springs to mind when thinking political musicality. Music and books, t'would be a sadder place without them, most my entire life revolves around them.

I keep vowing not to write on the internet anymore, but am an inverate impulsive writer with an afflicted curiousity gene.

we just started the 2nd series of the new dr. it's showing a lot of potential, there's quite a lot of intresting political subversion in the scripts and i love the way the duality of good and bad is inverted, it's got great charachters even rose's mum is quite pivital to the story. i have not made up my mind on the new actor, christoper eccles is going to be a hard act to follow.

i am a bowie fan to, i have never met him but i've always been intrested in his music and projects, i think after scarey monsters he started to descend into something sub standard for himself, however i once heard the unreleased version of 'outside' and i have to say, it's freaking brilliant. The record company wouldn't release it so he released the version of outside that sounds very different. i saw his last tour in sydney and he was amazing, having seen him almost 12-15 times over the years that was the best show i have ever seen, particularly 'Fantastic Voyage' and 'Heroes' absolutly amazing.
I never got into Mr. Bragg although i like hearing what he has to say, and i respect his stance on some matters. Once he was on a terrible tv show here called the panel. It's hosted by a group of primates who drink beer and watch sports, and there's the obliglitary woman who is the 'dumb' blond. while Mr. Bragg was on they were talking about a footy match where one player was subjected to racist comments on the pitch by the other team. (he was aborigional). The panel started to laugh at the situation and Mr. Bragg, just looked at them all and said, 'The moment you start laughing about racsim, and the moment you validate a comment like that is the moment you have abdicated responsibility to make your planet better.'
There was total silence. It was very cool and i always respected him after seeing that.
As for the The, yeah Matt Johnson, Mind Bomb, what a brilliant album, a total Mind Bomb, way ahead of it's time, emotionally, spiritually and politically.
