just finished reading paul sheehans new book, 'girls like you.' i think this is the sort of book every person who lives in australia or the west needs to read, not to instill fear but indicate the actual limits democracy can take, based around the gang rapes of anglo girls by lebanese/ pakistani youths and leading up to the cronulla riots it shows exactly what is occurring in society, that which dares not be spoken. an amazing read, and tegan one of the many victims who was not only raped by these gangs but then raped again by the legal proceedings deserves special mention for being a very brave and resilient young girl.
so i aslo finished the 'etched city', which is beautifully written and quite remarkable in story, if you require escape into the realms of fantasy, sci fi, and quasi spiritual realms. i really enjoyed it, very provocative.
for a number of years my father has been urging me to read the book the bible code 2, i had already read the first one but written it off becuase i had read so much conflicting investigations into it's scientific probability. However the other day i managed to pick up a copy for $2 and i started to read it and i have to say, so far it's incredible. one of the reasons i didn't like the first book is it was always after the event. its easy to predict something that has already happened, but the second book actually looks at what is and will happen. its early days yet but it appears as though there is something to be said about this 'bible code.' i wouldn't write it of just yet. i'll keep yu posted on what i thik so far but it looks as if 2006 is the year a nuclear bomb is detonated by Al Queda. The authors have managed to give themselves an exit stratagy, saying that the predictions can be changed if one knows about them in advance, they seem to believe that the bible was written as a warning that could not be deciphered until computers had been invented, despite issac newtons last years devoted to the mystery of the old testament. it appears this was like a time lock device that the bibles creator factored in. very intresting stuff.
