the cost of living in a society based on superficial information is the blindness i call meme control. examples of meme control are people who believe ideologies, people who follow a faith, people who build constructs around themselves and people who surrender responsibility to individuals they empower. husbands surrender to wives, wives to their local priest, the priest to an invisible friend, children to their edukation system, the accountant to the system, the system to a larger system, all of which eventually is meaningless.
no! Don't say that i hear you shout out, 'there has to be a meaning, else my life is meaningless.'
the truth is meaninglessness is meaningful. there's a great amount of personal power when one sees through the facade of meaning in our lives. Lets have a look at the stuff we learnt at school, in an arbitrary subject, say, history: we learn about the history of our culture from a historians perspective, mostly fabrication. there was a time when victorian historians believed dinosaurs lived at the same time as man, we now have a different piece of information that makes that redundant, therefore history is speculation not fact unless one has direct experience the same can be said for science, when i was at school the smallest particle was an atom, yet we know now its not, there are many smaller parts to an atom. geography, changes almost hourly, astrology, why just last year there was a planet called pluto, medicine, well that's similar to astrology, yeah there's not really anything that's based in truth, except the fact that the truths changes all the time and as we clutch towards absolute truth we only discover the absolute lie. i believe more in the absolute lie than the truth.
here's an exercise for you to try. tell the truth for 24 hours, the absolute truth. you would have to use e prime and think very carefully before you speak, everytime you feel you have mislead yourself, donate $100 to the capt. mission trust fund or a charity of your choice.
