libeteria takes shape, the garden will reach the canopies of the tree tops, the flag will fly high, like a madagascan spring day i remember, in the islands of azure oceans, the hungry forest and the lemur eye, the river still, the hum of the insect nation, the shade fans out on the beach between the palm trees, a pile of young coconuts someone has stacked in a pyramid.
the women are swimming in a lagoon, a few children play, they catch fish with their hands and laugh as they let them go, unaware the fish swim quite willingly to the children. a faun and a young lady play in the lagoon and a dog sleeps under the shade of a banana tree.
at night the ghosts appear from the trees, their big curious eyes, kind and knowing they clamber down and rummage for nuts and seeds, pieces of freshly plucked paw paw and juicy busted open mangoes. i've watched them for many months now, the family, their soft hair and long dexterous tails, the fourth limb agile and strong enough to support their weight when they hang down upside down picking fruit from the trees. curious about me they edge ever closer towards me each evening as i sit outside smoking my herbs, drinking my teas.
