wake up this morning, get myself a coffee, down at the beach there's a lot of activity, lot's of cars pulled up, people staring at something, pan and i investigate although my desire for coffee is strong and won't be ignored. the surf is outrageous, its wild and furious, it beats the beach pounding in crashes and crunches, no surfers dare ride these waves, unpredictability everywhere. i think about the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, unpredictability button, how the missile turned in to a whale and there in the pool it lays, the beached blue whale.
it's not a sight i'd want to inflict upon anyone, it's a tragedy, the crowd of locals know this because they all weep and feel the sense of loss, the catastrophe of nature ways we will never really understand. submarine sonar someone whispers, i look around, emergency crews arrive, police, uniforms, hard men walk with authority, they do not share the emotion, instead they take control, pushing people away as they salvage the whale. the local council will claim the teeth, any ambergris, they will chop it up and extract what they can for their bank balance, agenda 21 right.
i wander to the coffee shop, somewhat shocked by the brutality of the days start.
