reading new scientist this morning there was a short article about the few scientists experimenting with lsd, mostly in therapeutic settings, interestingly they find it hard to get funding as the major funders are drug companies and lsd being an effective drug for most emotional difficulties is only needed in one session only, or maybe three max, but because it's not something that needs to be taken again and again, like insulin for diabetics, these companies won't invest. nice to know your friendly neighbor hood drug company has your health as its priority, pass that Molotov.

of course, you know, this has been the case for a long long time. very early on acid was found to be uneconomical - shit, a teenager with stuff nicked from a chem class can make a million bucks worth in a weekend in their kitchen.
now, i am not opposed to any of this. i think that what makes acid so exciting (if a little outta date these days) is the fact that it CAN be made by teenagers. everyone learnt early on that the worst people to put acid into the hands of is the govt, the 'authorized' brainwashers, the medical industry etc. me, i think its nearly perfect now, with distribution in the hands of the counterculture. the mafia have little interest in it (preferring braindumbers like ice, smack, speed + coke), so leave it to the visionaries - just like huxley + mckenna said right from the start. finally, 3 generations later, the hype has abated and now the serious core of neuronauts can get on with things. the kids are off happy with their e's, mum & dad are stupefied on booze, viagra + tranqs - let the 30something cyberpunk-slacker-burner-appleheads get on with the high velocity task of uploading brains into infospace. god knows the current teenagers with their predigested brainsofteners dont seem capable.
anyway, what we gotta do here is get all these cybercide bombers in lebanon/iraq turned on to high velocity C6 neurochemicals (start with LSD then get serious with more neuro-friendly tryptamines and teach em to transfer their brains into electronica for more life-affirming-sexy/humorous-trans-cultural-trans-gender purposes. these crazy kids are at the fronteir of cyberconsciousness, but their navigating territory 2000 year old nomad technology cant take them into. no wonder theyre blowing themselves up - how else can a precivilized nervous system cope with 1 to the 30th infobytes? blaming it all on the devil/dominant culture is a normal pre-literate response. kids anywhere at anytime would do the same. remember the mansons, the childrens crusade, the hitler youth, the micky mouse clubs?
so, you wanna change the world?? well (as usual) you gotta get the most powerful change agents into the hands of the most nutted out young adults. DMT to edgy hormonal kids? do it. it wont be the first time DNA has made the suggestion - hell, 40,000 years of eboga, ayahuasca + psyllocibin have proved that turning the young & the restless onto their own circuitry is more effective in the long term that hammering the old stuff at em.
